The buses on the El Fasher-Nyala route do not stop anymore in Manawashi, Mershing locality, because of the imposition of a high fee per bus.<\/p>\n

A restaurant owner at Manawashi, “the largest and most popular bus station in the area”, told Radio Dabanga that the buses do not stop at the station anymore since last week, when the authorities of Mershing locality imposed a fee of SDG120 ($20) for each bus that takes a break at Manawashi.<\/p>\n

“An average of more than 40 buses and passenger vehicles used to stop at the station each day. Our loss until now has been estimated at more than SDG30,000 ($4,990).”<\/p>\n

On behalf of all the restaurant, cafe, and shop owners of Manawashi, he appealed to the commissioner of the locality to intervene, and resolve the problem of the affected traders.<\/p>\n

No receipt<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority has ordered airlines to request all domestic passengers to pay a SDG20 ($3.30) airport departure fee.<\/p>\n

A passenger told Radio Dabanga that receipts are not issued, and warned that this may lead to corruption.<\/p>\n
