Dozens of students staged a sit-in at the market of El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, on Monday, in protest against the re-election of President Omar Al Bashir. In Khartoum, four students were detained on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n
The protesters in El Obeid chanted slogans against the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) and the elections’ results, and called for overthrowing the regime in Khartoum, one of the students told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
In Khartoum, security agents detained Umran Faroug, a student of Bahri University and member of the Independent Student Congress, on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He was held after he had attended gatherings of the Sudanese Congress Party in El Kalakla Laffa and the Bahri central bus station, demanding the release of the political detainees.<\/p>\n
On Monday, government forces, supported by militant NCP students, stormed the discussion corner of the “independent students” of the Faculty of Agriculture of El Nilein University in Jebel Awliya, southern Khartoum. <\/p>\n
The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Congress Party, Abdelgayoum Awad El Seid, reported to Radio Dabanga that the forces dispersed the gathering by force. Independent students Mohamed Ibrahim, Omar Kamal, and Mohamed Haneen were detained.<\/p>\n
