{"id":182517,"date":"2015-07-13T15:09:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T15:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/darfur-lawyers-regret-sudanese-judiciary-s-loss-of-independence\/"},"modified":"2015-07-13T15:09:00","modified_gmt":"2015-07-13T15:09:00","slug":"darfur-lawyers-regret-sudanese-judiciary-s-loss-of-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/darfur-lawyers-regret-sudanese-judiciary-s-loss-of-independence","title":{"rendered":"Darfur lawyers regret Sudanese judiciary\u2019s \u2018loss of independence\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Darfur Bar Association (DBA) has condemned the sentence of 20 lashes and the public flogging of three senior members of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) last Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Sunday, the Bar described the flogging as &ldquo;a desperate attempt to humiliate honourable SCP cadres&rdquo;, saying that the sentence is another indication that &ldquo;the Sudanese judiciary has lost its independence and professionalism&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>The DBA added that the sentence thus &ldquo;again revealed the regime&rsquo;s lies, and the emptiness of the proposed national dialogue&rdquo;.<\/p>\n<p>Mastour Ahmed Mohamed, SCP&rsquo;s political secretary and two colleagues were each sentenced to 20 lashes on charges of disturbing the public order on 6 July.
