European Union Ambassador Tomas Ulicny announced that his delegation will visit eastern Sudan areas and Blue Nile state to gather information about development and stability there.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ulicny met with the Assistant to the Sudanese President at the Republican Palace in Khartoum on Tuesday morning. He focused the discussion on the implementation of the Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement, signed in October 2006 in Asmara.<\/p>\n

Presidential Assistant Musa Mohamed Ahmed, also chairman of the Beja Congress party, informed the EU ambassador on the matter. From his side, the ambassador talked about the progress in the EU-funded development projects in eastern Sudan.<\/p>\n

In a statement by the media office of the EU Delegation to Sudan, Ulicny reiterated that the European Union has met all its pledged contributions according to the Kuwait Donors Meeting for East Sudan held in 2010.<\/p>\n

“Peace in East Sudan is important and crucial to the stability of all Sudan, horn of Africa and the security of the Red Sea,” the ambassador told journalists after the meeting.<\/p>\n

He concluded that the European Union is concerned about the rise in human trafficking cases in the region.<\/p>\n

The last meeting between Ulicny and the former Assistant to the President, Dr Ibrahim Ghandour, took place in May this year and discussed efforts<\/a> to resume an inclusive national dialogue.<\/p>\n
