The police fired bullets into the air and used tear gas to disperse the crowd.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A witness said that the women went out to the streets, holding each others&rsquo; hands, and placing empty water pots in front of them with the support of a large group of residents. El Fitehab El Shigla has been without the supply of drinking water for a month.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#39;s demonstration led to the closure of the main street and cars changing their track to another street. Roads in Khartoum were also blocked in July when residents protested against the drinking water crisis in their neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Port Sudan clashes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Port Sudan, the residents of Walla district clashed for the second day in a row with the police on Wednesday. The police used crunches and tear gas against the people who stood up against the removal of their houses.<\/p>\n<p>Hamid Idriss, the former member of the state council, told Radio Dabanga that the clash has not resulted in injuries among the demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that a police force has removed a large number of houses of the district, using bulldozers and trucks. He added that Walla district authorities decided to remove these houses and sell them at an auction to investors.
