About ten people were seriously wounded, two women gang-raped, and a man was abducted in an attack on the village of Nemra in Tawila locality, North Darfur, on Sunday evening. The area is traditionally considered to be part of East Jebel Marra.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the victims told Radio Dabanga from Tabit that “a group of government militiamen” travelling in four Land Cruisers mounted with Dushkas and others riding camels stormed Nemra village at 8 pm.<\/p>\n

“They fired into the air before beating and whipping us. Ten people were seriously injured. They also raped two women, aged 17 and 32 alternately. They stole all our possessions and left, taking 75 donkeys and 47 sheep with them.”<\/p>\n

The heavy shooting set some of the reed roofs ablaze, which burned down about 250 home huts. The villagers fled to the north, to Daly, Koto, and Tabit.<\/p>\n

The source added that a delegation of them reached El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Monday, There they met with the commissioner of Tawila locality. He told them to report the attack to the public prosecutor, who in turn told them to file a complaint at the police station in Tawila town.<\/p>\n
