An overview of recent crimes that were committed in the Darfur region and reported to Radio Dabanga.<\/em><\/p>\n

Central Darfur<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gunmen robbed a <\/strong>group of people in Bindisi locality, Central Darfur, on Saturday evening. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, the coordinator of the Central Darfur camps for displaced people reported that “five Janjaweed riding camels ambushed a group of vendors and displaced customers returning from the market of Mukjar to Bindisi.<\/p>\n

“Firing into the air, they took all the goods loaded on the their donkeys, horse, and donkey carts, and fled. “Abdallah Mohamed Ahmed of Bindisi camp was severely beaten when he resisted,” the coordinator added. “As a result, his whole body is swollen.”<\/p>\n

A school student <\/strong>was shot in Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur, on Saturday evening, when two members of the security service open fire around them. The incident took place in the northern district of the capital, El Wehda. 18-year-old student Israa Yousef Ahmed of El Tamayuz Secondary School sustained bullet wounds.<\/p>\n

“Security agents suddenly started to shoot around them,” a neighbour of the victim told Radio Dabanga. “Israa was hit in the leg in front of her family home. She was transferred to the Zalingei Royal Hospital for a surgery operation on Monday.”<\/p>\n

Militiamen<\/strong> attacked a <\/strong>displaced woman in Mukjar locality in Central Darfur state on Wednesday 30 September. A witness informed Radio Dabanga that three militiamen, riding horses and camels, attacked the 60-year-old Maryam Adam Abdallah at her farm in Teru, an area west of Mukjar.<\/p>\n

She was tilling her farm when militiamen entered the land and beat her. She was transferred in a serious condition to a health centre in Mukjar for treatment.<\/p>\n

Gireida, South Darfur<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gunmen shot and<\/strong> injured two camp residents in Gireida locality, South Darfur, on Sunday morning. Again displaced people from one of the Gireida camps have become the victims of bandits roaming the area.<\/p>\n

At about 4 am on Sunday, ten armed men riding camels and horses stormed Abyad camp, firing randomly around them, a camp resident reported to Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Nasir Abdallah El Fadul and Fatima Abdallah El Haj were hit, and had to be taken to Gireida hospital for treatment. The attackers took two horses from the camp and fled.<\/p>\n
