There is a scarcity of drinking water for both people and animals.<\/p>\n<p>Dr El Fateh Rabee, director-general of the Red Sea Health Ministry, told reporters on 24 October that health teams are on their way to the affected areas in Haya. &ldquo;The damage was so big because the houses and other buildings in the area are very fragile,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>800 homes damaged by rains in Central Darfur<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An estimated 2,000 people in Central Darfur&rsquo;s Zalingei locality whose homes were damaged by heavy rains are in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the government&rsquo;s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC).<\/p>\n<p>On 20 October, an inter-agency mission visited the affected villages of Kurgo, Kankulei and Golba and found that 86 households (about 430 people) are in need of emergency shelter and household supplies, the United Nations&#39; humanitarian office (OCHA) reported in its latest weekly bulletin.<\/p>\n<p>In Deleig in Wadi Salih locality, heavy rains reportedly destroyed 405 homes, affecting an estimated further 2,000 people.
