A group of youth is concerned about the eruption of tribal clashes in Kassala state following a series of killings and abductions, and has submitted a memorandum to warn the state's authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The memo calls on the state to intervene and put an end to sedition among tribes. Speaking for the youth, Mohamed Sayidna Mohamed told Radio Dabanga that the Governor and the director of the Kassala police have received their document.<\/p>\n

Their concerns follow a series of killings and kidnappings by armed gangs in the state, that demand ransoms for returning abducted people. The gangs also rob residents of their livestock or in their houses at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

Mohamed stressed that the killings and stealing are ongoing. He demanded both the federal and state government to resolve the issue, before it turns into a tribal sedition and clashes.<\/p>\n

The most recent abduction incident in eastern Sudan took place on Monday, when one person was killed while another sustained injuries in an attack, allegedly by Ethiopian militiamen, on a vehicle in southern El Gedaref state.<\/p>\n
