{"id":181358,"date":"2015-12-28T15:01:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-28T15:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/former-rebels-conclude-ddr-programme-in-west-darfur\/"},"modified":"2015-12-28T15:01:00","modified_gmt":"2015-12-28T15:01:00","slug":"former-rebels-conclude-ddr-programme-in-west-darfur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/former-rebels-conclude-ddr-programme-in-west-darfur","title":{"rendered":"Former rebels conclude DDR programme in West Darfur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration (DDR) of more than 1,650 former rebel fighters was concluded on Sunday in El Geneina, capital of West Darfur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Darfur DDR Commission handed each demobilised fighter SDG1,500 ($247) and three 100 kg sacks of sorghum.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2011, the Sudanese government and the Liberation and Justice Party (NJM) that was formed in 2010 by 19 breakaway factions of the main Darfur rebel movements, signed the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD)&nbsp;in Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, a faction of the Justice and Equality Movement led by the late Mohamed Bashar (JEM-Sudan) joined the DDPD. Splinter groups from the JEM and the Sudan Liberation Movement signed the peace document in the following years.<\/p>\n<p>The Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration programme started in August 2014.
