{"id":181203,"date":"2016-01-21T14:39:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-21T14:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/funding-woes-aid-organisations-leave-west-darfur\/"},"modified":"2016-01-21T14:39:00","modified_gmt":"2016-01-21T14:39:00","slug":"funding-woes-aid-organisations-leave-west-darfur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/funding-woes-aid-organisations-leave-west-darfur","title":{"rendered":"Funding woes: aid organisations leave West Darfur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>As of January 2016, Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) and Intersos closed their offices in West Darfur because of a lack of funding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IRW was providing food, health, water and sanitation, education, emergency shelters, household supplies, and livelihood assistance in El Geneina, Kereinik and Beida localities, the<strong> <\/strong>UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan reports in its latest <a href=\"http:\/\/reliefweb.int\/sites\/reliefweb.int\/files\/resources\/OCHA_Sudan_Weekly_Humanitarian_Bulletin_Issue_03_%2811_-_17_January_2016%29.pdf?utm_source=OCHA+Sudan&amp;utm_campaign=f2d98acae6-SHB+Issue+03%2C+2016&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_43f5eb2ad5-f2d98acae6-75571469\">weekly bulletin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Intersos operated in Habila and Foro Baranga localities in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as peace-building activities.<\/p>\n<p>The two INGOs have handed over their activities to the respective state government Ministries, the bulletin reads.<\/p>\n<p>In May last year, the Fellowship for African Relief (FAR) phased out of West Darfur in West Darfur because of limited funding.
