The South Darfur Security Committee detained dozens of Fellata and Salamat administration leaders, pending an investigation into the clashes between the two tribes that claimed 25 lives last week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday, the security officers in the localities of Tullus, Buram, and Dimsu summoned the native administration leaders of both tribes, confiscated their mobile phones, and detained them under the emergency measures, multiple sources reported to Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

The sources said that more than 32 omdas and sheikhs of both tribes were detained. They were all taken to the state capital Nyala for questioning with regard to the fierce fighting that erupted between the tribes the Nadhif area on 14 February, over alleged cattle rustling by both sides.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Governor of South Darfur, Adam El Faki, has issued a decision whereby he relieved five Habaniya and Fellata administration leaders from their posts.<\/p>\n

He said that the decision was made according to the South Darfur Constitution and based on a joint report on recent incidents between the two tribes.<\/p>\n
