Two annual reports released by the Human Rights and Development Organization (HUDO) Centre outline human right violations in Sudan’s South Kordofan and Blue Nile states, as well as the plight of displaced people from those states.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reports released by the Kenya-based NGO this week, highlight incidents of human rights violations and abuses that took place in the mentioned areas during 2015.<\/p>\n

“Due to security, geographical, and logistical challenges, HUDO Centre documented verified incidents from places where monitors managed to reach. It consisted of more than 50 cases of arbitrary arrest, more than 20 villages looted, burned, and displaced.<\/p>\n

 It also documents some rape cases, cases of children’s rights abuses\/ violations and other human rights violation incidents. The second report is on the situation of the displaced, mainly from South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.<\/p>\n

“The main purpose of this report is to bring to light the human rights violations and abuses taking place in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states so that the stakeholders like the UN and the international community can pressurize the Government of Sudan to respect international human rights and humanitarian laws,” the preamble to the reports reads.<\/p>\n
