Pregnant women and children have died in areas that were isolated by floods and heavy rains, according to the representative of El Tadamon locality.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Representative Essam Eldin Ibrahim Osman reported in a statement yesterday that pregnant women and children died, in ten areas in Blue Nile. Ibrahim Osman did not report the death toll.<\/p>\n

Because of the heavy rainfall, accumulating water from the Nile river isolated areas in Blue Nile state, including the villages of Agadi, Roro, Gireiwa, El Jimam, Gulli, Bout, Buk, Ahmir and Sedak in El Tadamon. \"\"

“These areas were isolated for four months,” Ibrahim Osman said. People were not able to reach the populations in these areas during the flooding, but managed to contact the residents.<\/p>\n

He claimed that the locality registered the death of at least one woman or child every week or day.<\/p>\n

Sudan's rainy season lasts from June to September or October. The Sudanese Red Crescent Society reported that more than 40,000 families have been affected by the recents floods, as burst rivers destroyed over 21,000 houses.<\/p>\n
