A number of displaced people in South Darfur has managed to return to their farmlands and homes, which they had lost during conflict, for the purpose of farming.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Darfur Governor, Adam Mohamed El Faki, announced that more than 113 people have returned to Shattai locality. Their houses and lands have been freed from the grip of the aggressors in an amicable manner, he said.<\/p>\n

El Faki pledged to return all the usurped rights from the aggressors to their rightful owners, in a press statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

In the past weeks, a committee looked into dozens of complaints by displaced people who wanted to return to their farmlands in Shattai, but found their property in the hands of trespassers. The specialised committee has so far managed to solve 50 complaints by making the tresspassers hand over the properties.<\/p>\n

The Governor further announced the return of “150 leaders” of displaced people from camp Kalma to Shattai locality.<\/p>\n

The return of a number of displaced people from Kalma camps to Shattai was confirmed by Awatif Abdelrahman, the secretary-general of a group for women in South Darfur camps. “They returned for farming during the upcoming agriculture season.”<\/p>\n

But she denied that community leaders of displaced people have also left Kalma camps. “Sudan's political leaders promote such issues in order to get money and posts,” she said.<\/p>\n
