A number of farmers in Darfur complained about repeated attacks by armed herders on their lands this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A farmer told Radio Dabanga from Tabit in North Darfur’s Tawila locality that a group of militant Abbala tribesman wearing military uniforms drove dozens of camels and cows by force of arms onto their farms in the area of Koto, Kura Jaba, and Wanasa on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“When we protested, they beat us with their whips, and robbed us of our belongings. Their animals destroyed large parts of lands planted with all kinds of vegetables.”<\/p>\n

He said that the incident was reported to the police of Tabit, “who did not move”.<\/p>\n

On the same day, armed herdsmen attacked the farm of Central Darfur Governor Jaafar Abdelhakam in the area of Deleig in Wadi Dalih locality.<\/p>\n

“They beat the farmers with their rifle butts, and stole their property,” one of the victims told Radio Dabanga. “Ahmed Yahya, Siddig Abdelshafi, and Hamid Yagoub were seriously injured.”<\/p>\n

He said that the attack led to the flight of the workers. “Most of them returned to the relative safety of the Garsila camps for the displaced.”<\/p>\n

In the area of Kendebe in West Darfur, a number of herders beat and seriously injured displaced farmer Ibrahim Gasim, when he objected to their livestock driven onto his farmland.<\/p>\n
