{"id":179624,"date":"2016-10-05T20:46:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T20:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/us-charge-d-affaires-travels-to-darfur\/"},"modified":"2016-10-05T20:46:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-05T20:46:00","slug":"us-charge-d-affaires-travels-to-darfur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/us-charge-d-affaires-travels-to-darfur","title":{"rendered":"US Charg\u00e9 d\u2019 Affaires travels to Darfur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A delegation from the US Embassy in Khartoum, led by Charg&eacute; d&rsquo;Affaires ad interim Ervin Massinga and the Sudan Mission Director for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Dr Jeffrey Ashley, completed a visit to Darfur over the last two days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a media statement today, The US Embassy in Khartoum confirmed that &ldquo;the delegation met with a wide range of individuals and organisations in El Fasher, including members of the local government; representatives from the United Nations, international humanitarian organisations and civil society; members from United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (Unamid); community leaders; and internally displaced persons.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation had open discussions on a number of topics including regional security, humanitarian access, food security, health, education, and development programs. The delegation also visited Zamzam camp for the displaced south of El Fasher to observe and better understand how humanitarian assistance and food aid from the American people, provided through USAID, is benefiting displaced people in Darfur.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The USA remains the single largest donor of humanitarian assistance in Darfur, providing over $230 million in humanitarian assistance in 2016, targeting over 2.5 million people.
