One person died because of acute watery diarrhoea, while 18 others have been infected in White Nile State. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Health Minister, Tarig Biraigi, acknowledged the emergence of the infections in a press statement. The patients have been been transferred to Ed Dueim hospital.<\/p>\n

Biraigi appealed to the residents of White Nile to stop drinking water from the canals.<\/p>\n

A senior medical official told local press that actually four people died from the infection. He put the number of people infected with watery diarrhoea at 22. The cases have been separated and quarantined in wards.<\/p>\n

In September, three basic schoolgirls died from acute watery diarrhoea. The state has been less affected by the outbreak than El Gezira, where the official death toll run-up to 32 people by the first week of November.<\/p>\n

In Sudan 71 people have died and 3,771 people were infected with watery diarrhoea in six states including Kassala, El Gedaref, Sennar, El Gezira, the Blue Nile and the River Nile, the Sudanese Health Minister, Bahar Idris Abu Garda, confirmed in late September.<\/p>\n
