A group of militiamen killed one man and kidnapped nine others east of Nierteti on Wednesday evening. In Zalingei, all procedures of a peace deal with rebel defectors are completed, according to the State Governor. <\/strong><\/p>\n

A relative of the victims said that militiamen, driving three vehicles, and others on camels and horses opened fire on a large group of people on their way from Kado to Nierteti at 6 pm. The more than 50 people were returning from shopping at the market.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Hamid was shot dead on the spot while his brother Abdeljabbar Hamid sustained serious injuries. The attackers stole the mobile phones and property of the victims and abducted nine people.<\/p>\n

On Thursday morning, the perpetrators called the families of the kidnapped persons and demanded a ransom for their release. They are being held at Jebel Kargo, the caller told the family members.<\/p>\n

The relative of the brothers Hamid reported that the kidnapped people are Adam Abdel Mawla, Mohamad Abdallah Mohamed, Saleh Abdel Gader, Mohamed Omar Abdallah Juma, Omar Hamed Hassan, Mohamed Ibrahim Abdallah, Yousif Adam, Nabil Haroun Abdel Shaafi and Abdel Razeg Daoud Mohamed.<\/p>\n

Peace agreement<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Central Darfur Governor, Jaafar Abdelhakam Ishag, has announced that all procedures and guarantees for the implementation of the Korona peace agreement, signed with prominent dissidents of the rebel SLM-AW, have been completed.<\/p>\n

Ishag said that a technical team has arrived in Zalingei to assess the implementation of the security arrangements of the peace deal, which covers Korona area in western Jebel Marra. The movement of the dissidents is to be called the Sudan Liberation Movement – General Leadership, according to the Governor.<\/p>\n

There are approximately 2,000 troops who have followed the defectors of Abdel Wahid's armed movement, which barely hold its ground during the military offensive in the mountainous Jebel Marra in the first months of 2016.<\/p>\n

Detention<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Wednesday afternoon, the security service arrested a 23-year-old displaced cart owner in camp Hamidiya. Abdallah Ishaq Abdel Bakhit was then taken to their office in Zalingei. The reasons for his detention are unknown.<\/p>\n

The Coordinator of Central Darfur camps informed Radio Dabanga that at 1 am on Wednesday, security agents raided Bakhit’s house. He is concerned that he might be subjected to ill treatment by the security personnel.<\/p>\n
