The Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Service handed a family in Khartoum the body of their son, who was detained at Khartoum airport upon his return from Israel three days ago. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The NISS informed the family that Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Adam (1985) jumped from the fifth floor during the interrogation, and died. His brother believes he was interrogated about his trip to Israel.<\/p>\n

Brother Abdelaziz told Radio Dabanga that his brother was buried in the presence of his family on Wednesday, but that the family did not receive any information about what has happened, other than what the security service told them.<\/p>\n

There has been no autopsy to determine the cause of death, lawyer and legal counselor Abdelmagid Abboud said. “The circumstances of the death of Ahmed are not normal,” he told this station.<\/p>\n

Ahmed arrived at Khartoum airport from Tel Aviv on Tuesday and was immediately moved to the office of the NISS in El Sahafa for interrogation. Two hours after Ahmed's arrival security agents contacted his family and reported the decease of their son after he had jumped from the fifth floor.<\/p>\n

“The body of Ahmed showed no fractures or wounds, which imply that there is a doer in his death,” Abboud said. “How does a man, arrested and investigated in the security office where even air cannot enter, jump from the fifth floor?<\/p>\n

“According to Article 51 of the Procedure Code a case should be reported and a prosecutor should look into the details of the case, but unfortunately nothing of this has happened.”<\/p>\n

Abboud called on Human Rights Watch and other organisations to take immediate action and launch a fact-finding investigation.<\/p>\n

The late Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Adam was born in 1985 at El Madina Arab, west of Wed Madani. His brother stressed that he has no affiliation to any political party in Sudan or Israel.<\/p>\n
