The Ministry of Justice revealed a number of violations with public money in Sudanese Parliament yesterday. A police chief has reported a lower crime rate in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ministry revealed the findings of the report of the Sudanese Auditor-General, including a total of 33 complaints about violations with public money that have been filed this year. The embezzlement reaches up to SDG7,5 million ($1,144,870).<\/p>\n

Furthermore the Minister of Justice, Awad El Hassan pointed out to the Members of Parliament that some companies in West Kordofan are engaged in technical irregularities and criminal activities in the implementation of projects the state.<\/p>\n

Also speaking in Parliament on Monday, the Ministry of Interior with Lt. Colonel of the police forces, Omer Muktar Haji Nur, reported that 6,500 cultivated acres with canopies have been destroyed at El Radoom area in South Darfur this year. A large number of suspects has been arrested, Nur said.<\/p>\n

The police chief said in comments to reporters after the Interior Minister's statement to Parliament that the crime levels in Sudan have decreased compared to 2015.<\/p>\n

Last year, the Auditor-General reported fraud by state officials<\/a> in East and West Darfur and in eastern Sudanese El Gedaref. More than SDG800 million ($130 million) 'disappeared' in El Gedaref state, more than SDG140 million ($22.760 million) in East Darfur, and about SDG1.4 million ($228,000) in West Darfur.<\/p>\n
