He also predicts that 1,000 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed each month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schistosomiasis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ministry also revealed the spread of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/mediacentre\/factsheets\/fs115\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schistosomiasis<\/a>&nbsp;and soil-transmitted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/mediacentre\/factsheets\/fs366\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helminthiases<\/a> (intestinal worms)&nbsp;in all the states of the country, especially Darfur and Kordofan.<\/p>\n<p>Siddig warned that schistosomiasis can cause bladder cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, and fatal gastrointestinal bleeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trachoma<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Health of West Darfur, Tijani Tahir Karshoom, has confirmed the rise of cases of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/mediacentre\/factsheets\/fs382\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trachoma<\/a>&nbsp;in the localities of El Geneina and Beida.<\/p>\n<p>In Sennar state, people have complained of the outbreak and spread of worms, especially among children, and say that the heath authorities have yet to identify it.
