Reportedly 6,500 people in Sudan suffer from kidney failure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project is funded by donors and charitable organisations from Arab and foreign countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Germany. Mawiya Mohamed Ahmed, the head of the Sudanese Organisation for the care of cancer patients, said that the initial cost of the project are about $ 450 million.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Health Anwar Ishag Suleiman announced the recent establishment of more than 15 health units in various localities in North Darfur, as well as bids for the construction of 23 health centers and units.<\/p>\n<p>Another 28 health facilities are awaiting tenders for the construction, Suleiman said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kidney failure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The federal Health Ministry reported that about 6,500 people are suffering from kidney failure in the country. Head of the National Centre for Kidney Diseases and Surgery, Mohamad Merghani, pointed out that the total number of kidney transplant operations has risen to 300 a year. &ldquo;There are 70 dialysis centres in the country.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blood centres<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ten water purification systems were distributed to state-run blood centres in Sudan on Wednesday.
