Nine student members of a pro-rebel movement were arrested at demonstrations they organised in two markets in Khartoum on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students gathered in markets in downtown Khartoum and Khartoum North on Wednesday morning to speech against the detentions by the Sudanese security service (NISS) of their fellow members on Sunday.<\/p>\n

No lawyers have been allowed to the nine arrested members of the United Popular Front, the student faction of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdelwahid El Nur (SLM-AW). Human rights activist Abdelbasit Mohamed told Radio Dabanga from Khartoum yesterday that the arrested students were handed over by the NISS to the police of Bahri Wasat.<\/p>\n

The nine students under arrest are Abdelnasir Adam Ishag from the Omdurman El Ahliya University, Abubakr Mousa Khamis (Omdurman El Ahliya), Abdelmalik Mousa Ibrahim (Omdurman El Ahliya University), Gamareldin Khater (El Nilein University), Younis Mohamed Younis (El Zaeem El Azhari University), Zakaria Mousa Abaker (El Zaeem El Azhari University), Abdallah Sharaf Mohamed (Bahri University), Salim Mohamed Salim, and Ezzeldin Abdelbashir.<\/p>\n

Families of the three students of the Islamic University in Omdurman who were killed in their dormitory on 31 August, were ordered to avoid holding mass funerals for their sons.<\/p>\n

Student Mohamed Ali Kalol suffered three stabs in an attack by another armed student in the Islamic University’s boarding house on 31 August, the last night of the Eid El Adha.<\/p>\n

The attacker stabbed Kalol as well as Ashraf El Hadi and Jaafar Mohamed Abdelbagi. One of them was killed instantly while the others succumbed to their injuries the next day in hospitals.<\/p>\n

A source informed Radio Dabanga that the Sudanese security service asked the family of Ashraf El Hadi to avoid large gatherings of people at his funeral and requested them to bury him on the same day.<\/p>\n
