The spread and proliferation of illegal weapons in eastern Sudan represents a serious threat to the social fabric of the area, the Eastern Sudan Front has warned.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a statement, the Front laments that “eastern Sudan has become a transit point for gangs of human trafficking and arms smuggling”.<\/p>\n

The statement inquired about the reasons for the delay by Red Sea and El Gedaref states in the implementation of the presidential decision to collect weapons as the two states are suffering from rampant crimes of human trafficking and arms smuggling.<\/p>\n

Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Sudan’s Vice President, Hassabo Abdelrahman, chaired a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Khartoum on the collection of arms and unlicensed vehicles in the eastern and central states in the presence of governors of the two concerned states.<\/p>\n

The governor of Kassala Adam Gamaa said in a press statement that the meeting stopped on the arrangements and preparations of the central and eastern states to collect weapons and unlicensed vehicles.<\/p>\n

The governor of Kassala confirmed his state’s completion of arrangements to collect weapons through the preparation of all the state's communities and securing all gaps that may impede the process of collecting weapons.<\/p>\n

He pointing out that the process of collecting weapons in the eastern states will start in the first of October.<\/p>\n
