{"id":177477,"date":"2017-10-05T19:32:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dabangasudan.preview.websight.nl\/democratic-lawyers-in-sudan-condemn-latest-campaign-of-detentions\/"},"modified":"2023-09-08T08:49:46","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T06:49:46","slug":"democratic-lawyers-in-sudan-condemn-latest-campaign-of-detentions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/democratic-lawyers-in-sudan-condemn-latest-campaign-of-detentions","title":{"rendered":"Sudan Democratic Lawyers condemn latest campaign of detentions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Sudan Democratic Lawyers Front (SDLF) has condemned the ongoing detentions by Sudan\u2019s security services of many Sudanese and holding them without charge or trial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Several Sudanese have been detained, including member of the Sudanese Congress Party Nabil Nouri and Tarig Mansour, this along with Yagoub Abdelmowla and Mohamed Ali Yousef from Omdurman.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Satee El Haj, the spokesperson for the SDLF Freedoms Committee told Radio Dabanga from Khartoum \u201cthat the committee also condemns the confiscation of newspapers in contravention of the constitution and the press act, despite the fact that the confiscation requires accountability and compensation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers has also condemned the security services\u2019 decision to siege offices of registered political parties and obstructing their peaceful activities in a clear challenge to the political parties\u2019 act of 2007.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Excessive use of force\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The committee also condemned &#8220;the excessive use of force&#8221; against unarmed civilians in camp Kalma for displaced people in South Darfur.<\/p>\n<p>El Hajj called on the attorney general to form an inquiry committee to investigate what happened, bring the perpetrators to justice, file complaints and then transfer them to the courts.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this demand, there has not been an independent investigation so far, while the regime is now active in the issue of weapons collection.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed the committee\u2019s deep indignation at the inability of the higher authorities whether political, executive or quasi-judicial to carry out an investigation, into these ongoing violations. &#8220;The authorities concerned must intervene firmly and strongly in accordance with the Constitution, the value of democracy and the rights of the homeland and the citizens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"sws_supernormalaction\"><button on=\"tap:superwebshare-lightbox\" class=\"superwebshare_normal_button1 superwebshare-button-large superwebshare-button-square superwebshare_prompt superwebshare_button_svg\" style=\"color:#ffffff;background-color: #d52631;\" ><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" class=\"superwebshare-svg\"  fill=\"currentColor\" viewBox=\"0 0 1000 1000\" stroke=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\"><path stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\" d=\"M789.86,323.67c91.79,0,164.25-72.46,164.25-164.25S881.64,0,789.86,0S625.6,72.46,625.6,164.25c0,4.83,0,14.49,0,24.15L306.76,371.98c-24.15-24.15-57.97-33.82-96.62-33.82c-91.79,0-164.25,72.46-164.25,164.25s72.46,164.25,164.25,164.25c38.65,0,72.46-14.49,96.62-33.82L625.6,821.26c0,9.66,0,14.49,0,19.32c0,86.96,72.46,159.42,159.42,159.42s159.42-72.46,159.42-159.42s-67.63-159.42-154.59-159.42c-33.82,0-67.63,9.66-96.62,33.82L374.4,526.57c0-9.66,0-19.32,0-24.15s0-14.49,0-24.15l318.84-188.41C717.39,314.01,751.21,323.67,789.86,323.67z\" \/><\/svg><span>Share article<\/span><\/button><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Democratic Coalition of Lawyers has condemned the ongoing arrests by Sudan\u2019s security services of many Sudanese and detaining them without charge or trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[27],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-177477","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
