Residents of Otash camp for the displaced in Nyala locality, South Darfur, are suffering from a water shortage. Lack of rain has also left wells dry in North Darfur.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The residents of camp Otash have complained of thirst as a result of lack of fuel and disruption the of water pumps.<\/p>\n

One of the sheikhs of Otash told Radio Dabanga that the crisis worsened three days ago. The water pumps have stopped operating because of lack of fuel and spare parts. He said that the West National Water Organisation confirmed to them that it has niether fuel nor spare parts for the pumps.<\/p>\n

He said that the price of a barrel of water now costs SDG 25 ($3.75).<\/p>\n

North Darfur<\/strong><\/p>\n

The residents of Abu Zerega area south of El Fasher in North Darfur have renewed their complaint about the drinking water crisis due to the drought, dryness of the wells, and lack of rain this year.<\/p>\n

A number of residents said that the price of a barrel of water has reached SDG 30 (4.50).<\/p>\n

They told Radio Dabanga that they have filed a memorandum to Dar El Salam locality and the state government to solve their problem, but there has been no response on the issue.<\/p>\n
