Residents of El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, complain about a new increase in the transportation fares. The capital of South Kordofan r<\/strong>a<\/strong>n out of fuel again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A listener told Radio Dabanga that the fares for the various bus and minibus lines in the city rose again a week ago.<\/p>\n

“The bus tariff rose from SDG 2 to SDG 3.5, while the fare for a minibus jumped from SDG 2.5 to SDG 4,” he said.<\/p>\n

A taxi driver attributed the tariff hikes to the continuing fuel crisis in the state. Bus owners said they are as well suffering from increased prices of spare parts. They warned that the price hikes may lead to the collapse of the transport sector in North Kordofan.<\/p>\n

In February<\/a>, bus owners and drivers in El Obeid embarked on a strike in protest against the increase of the fuel prices.<\/p>\n

No fuel<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seven petrol stations in Kadugli, capital of South Kordofan, closed on Saturday because of the lack of fuel. “Only one pump remained in service,” a driver told this station.<\/p>\n
