♦ Militia attack Central Darfur camps: Four displaced dead<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\n

May 25 – 2018 GARSILA \/ ZALINGEI<\/em> New information about the deadly attack in Aradeiba camp in Central Darfur claims that the people killed in the camp on 22 and 23 May had been shot in the presence of police and security forces.<\/p>\n

One of the camp sheikhs in Aradeiba in Wadi Saleh locality claimed that the attack took place on a group of mourning people while members of the police and security service were present at the scene. Three people were killed and the sheikh reported to Radio Dabanga that seventeen people sustained injuries.<\/p>\n

Aradeiba camp for displaced people is close to Zalingei locality, where the Khamsa Degaig camp witnessed a separate deadly attack by militiamen on Monday May 21. RSF members entered Khamsa Degaig that morning and opened fire into the air, deadly wounding a woman in the camp. Her death led to demonstration<\/a>s in the camp and in front of the government's office in Zalingei town.<\/p>\n

The African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (Unamid) released a statement last week that the peacekeeping mission will increase the number<\/a> and frequency of patrols in and around the Central Darfur camps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

♦ <\/strong>New attacks on rebel sites in Darfur's Jebel Marra<\/strong><\/p>\n

May 28 – 2018 KASS \/ KOBO<\/em> The Sudan Liberation Movement under the leadership of Abdelwahid El Nur (SLM-AW) says it repelled attacks on their sites in Kass<\/a> in southern Jebel Marra, Darfur, this weekend. Early last week fierce battles raged between the rebels and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Kobo, where again, the SLM-AW claimed to have repulsed the attacks on its bases. The Sudanese Air Force bombed areas in Jebel Marra on Tuesday, according to the movement.<\/p>\n

Responding to the renewed clashes, the Darfur Displaced and Refugees Association reported that a large number of residents<\/a> in Jebel Marra villages have been affected by the clashes and fled their homes.<\/p>\n

The Sudanese Defence Minister was requested by members of parliament to appear before the Parliament<\/a> in Khartoum following the shooting of civilians in Jebel Marra.<\/p>\n

The government forces' attempt to eliminate bases of the SLM-AW started in March. In April, areas in north-western Jebel Marra were targeted, where at least 13 villages burned to the ground and tens of thousands of people reportedly fled their homes.<\/p>\n
