Sudan’s Ministry of Oil and Gas has announced the allocation of special quotas of fuel for companies operating in the field of minerals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Minister at the Ministry of Oil and Gas Engineer Saaduddin Hussein al-Bushra stressed, in press statements on Wednesday, the commitment and readiness of his ministry to provide special quotas of fuel to the companies working in the field of mining officially, adding that this comes within the concern of the Ministry of Oil and Gas to provide fuel for the productive sectors.<\/p>\n

The official Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reports that the ministry called on all mining companies to coordinate with the supply department of the Sudanese Oil Corporation to receive their share of fuel.<\/p>\n

Fuel shortage<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sudan is suffering from chronic fuel shortage<\/a> as stocks dwindle following the final decommissioning of the Port Sudan refinery, and the shutdown of El Jeili refinery for maintenance in early March.<\/p>\n

The shortage has led to long queues at petrol stations across the country causing transport and logistical infrastructures to grind to a halt. The knock-on effect has infiltrated every part of life<\/a> as bakeries, electricity generators and drinking and irrigation water pumps fall silent for lack of fuel.<\/p>\n
