Yesterday, the third ministerial meeting on cooperation in security and border control between Sudan, Libya, Niger and Chad at the level of the experts’ committee, which includes security chiefs of the four countries, was launched at the Corinthia Hotel in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sudan’s military intelligence chief, Jamal Omar, said that the experts’ meeting discussed four main issues: study of the joint judicial cooperation agreement, coordination and follow-up mechanism for the joint work department, formation of mechanism and joint operations centres.<\/p>\n

He said the main objective of all this work is to build security partnerships, enhance confidence among the four countries and unify their efforts to secure their common borders, combat terrorism, negative movements, human trafficking, drug trafficking and cross-border crimes, as well as border development projects.<\/p>\n

The committee of experts is due to submit its recommendations to the ministerial meeting today<\/p>\n

Yesterday Sudan and Egypt agreed to develop the relationship between the armed forces in the two neighbouring countries strategically to confront the issues of security threats and the common challenges facing Khartoum and Cairo.<\/p>\n

The agreement came at the end of the Sudanese-Egyptian joint military talks in the presence of the Chiefs of Staff of the two countries in Khartoum.<\/p>\n

Kamal Abdel Marouf called on the Joint Chiefs of Staff to build a strategic partnership to secure common borders, combat terrorism, smuggling and human trafficking, reduce security chaos and come up with a joint action plan to serve the interests of both countries.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Farid Hijazi, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, reiterated his commitment to full coordination and support of the strategic interests of the two countries to face all challenges.<\/p>\n
