The torrential rains in Niereteti in Central Darfur have left two people dead, more than 700 homes destroyed, and extensive damage to property and food supplies. Damage has been reported from across Darfur and Sudan’s Northern state.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the sheikhs reported to Radio Dabanga that the rains on Saturday, which has lasted for three hours, caused two people to drown in one of the lagoons at Niereteti. At least 700 homes have collapsed in the city and the surrounding camps for the displaced.<\/p>\n

He added that that a full inventory of the damage and casualties is still under way.<\/p>\n

Torrential rains have destroyed more than 1,000 houses in Deleig, washed away large areas of agricultural land and led to closure of the road between Zalingei and Garsila in Central Darfur.<\/p>\n

One of the sheikhs of Deleig camp pointed to the collapse of 850 mud houses, 150 cottages, and 113 toilets in the camp.<\/p>\n

The flood of Manawashi Valley washed three travel buses from the road between El Fasher and Nyala.<\/p>\n

The administration of El Rahad Agricultural Project announced that heavy rain has damaged more than 10,000 acres cultivated with various crops.<\/p>\n

A woman has died after a roof collapsed on her in Merowe in the Northern state.<\/p>\n
