The Democratic Lawyers Alliance announced that they filed two appeals against the decisions of the Emergency Court<\/a> of El Imtidad in Khartoum against protesters sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and the protesters sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They pointed out that the sentences in appeal had already been issued by Judge Abdallah Abdelbagi, the judge of the El Imtidad Emergency Court.<\/p>\n

The alliance of lawyers said that yesterday El Kalakla Emergency Court dismissed the charge against six protesters and released them immediately, while three demonstrators were sentenced to one-month imprisonment for each.<\/p>\n

The Emergency Court of Khartoum North (Bahri) dismissed the charge against a demonstrator for insufficient evidence and immediately release him.<\/p>\n

The Criminal Court of Rabak in the White Nile State dismissed the charge against nine demonstrators while the court sentenced a demonstrator to a fine of SDG 1,000 ($20*.)<\/p>\n

Emergency Courts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emergency Courts have been established to deal with cases related to the State of Emergency proclaimed in Sudan<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Democratic Lawyers Alliance reported on Friday that the Sudanese authorities have transferred 870 people to Emergency Courts in Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum North, on charges of participating in demonstrations.<\/p>\n

The alliance reported that 400 people have been referred to the Emergency Court in Omdurman, 70 to Emergency Courts in Khartoum North and 400 to the Emergency Courts in Khartoum.<\/p>\n
