Four people including a child were killed in crossfire when groups of gunmen clashed at the market of Kass yesterday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Witnesses reported to Radio Dabanga that an intense firefight broke out between the gunmen, for reasons that are not yet clear.<\/p>\n

Three adults and a 13-year-old cart boy were killed outright in the crossfire. There are as yet no reports of injuries.<\/p>\n

The witnesses explained that when the authorities intervened at the market, the gunmen fled the town. No suspects have been apprehended thus far.<\/p>\n

Market violence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the last two weeks, Radio Dabanga has received several reports of violence at Darfur markets.<\/p>\n

On November 25, Ibrahim Khatir was wounded at Um Dukhun market<\/a> in Central Darfur by unidentified gunmen.<\/p>\n

The residents of Um Dukhun have complained about the increase in attacks in the streets and in houses, especially after clashes in the area between the army and local militiamen, as the army is preventing the use of motorcycles and the wearing of the face-covering kadamol<\/em>.<\/p>\n

As previously reported by Radio Dabanga, on November 17, two soldiers of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) were wounded when in a firefight with militiamen at Um Dukhun market<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told this station that the soldiers were involved in a joint operation with the Rapid Support Forces, collecting illegal weapons and ammunition. A conflict erupted between the two sides for reasons that are still unclear, and they exchanged fire across the market.<\/p>\n
