On Friday, during a workshop in Blue Nile state, Dr Siddig Tawir, a member of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, saluted “the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the December Revolution in Blue Nile state”, describing them as “the spark of the revolution”. It is widely acknowledged that the December Revolution grew from public demonstrations that started in Blue Nile.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tawir encouraged the residents of Blue Nile to work hard and make sure that the whole community participates fully in the peace process, “especially women because they are the most affected in wars and conflicts”.<\/p>\n

Friday sermon<\/strong><\/p>\n

During a Friday sermon in Ed Damazin, capital of Blue Nile state, Tawir stressed that the upcoming round of negotiations scheduled to resume in Juba on Tuesday<\/a> will be transparent, clear, and meant to include the opinions of real stakeholders in the areas of war and displacement.<\/p>\n

He explained that the purpose of his visit is part of the framework of the government’s endeavour to provide all the requirements for the success of the upcoming negotiation round in Juba.<\/p>\n

He clarified that the objective of the workshop regarding the peace issue is to listen to those who are truly affected in the national election issues. He received the recommendations of the peace workshop and pledged to hand them over to the negotiating parties.<\/p>\n
