Three people were killed, four wounded in attacks by Ethiopian gunmen in eastern Sudan’s El Gedaref.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The El Fashaga Lands Committee in El Gedaref reported in a press statement on Thursday that three people were killed, four wounded, and 200 heads of livestock were stolen in attacks<\/a> by Ethiopian gunmen (shifta*) in the border area of El Fashaga locality in December<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The committee stated that it does not understand “the suspicious silence of the Sudanese authorities and the Ethiopian army”, and condemned “the continuing complacency of the Sudanese government” in dealing with aggressors and protecting its citizens.<\/p>\n

Residents from El Gedaref state border areas travelled to El Gedaref town last week, demanding demanded better protection of the border areas by reinforcement of the army bases and deploying more forces at border crossings.<\/p>\n

Mid-December, Radio Dabanga also reported the kidnapping<\/a> of three residents of East El Galabat near the border.<\/p>\n

In the past years, Ethiopian gunmen have been regularly assaulting people along the border between Sudan and Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
