On Friday, the Chadian President Idris Deby announced his sponsorship of the Border Areas Conference in support of the ongoing Sudan peace talks in Juba the capital of South Sudan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday, Deby received a written message from the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lt Gen Abdelfattah El Burhan at the presidential palace in the Chad capital of N’Djamena.<\/p>\n

The envoy of the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Omar Manis said that the message is about bilateral relations and the possibility to upgrade and develop these relations in all fields between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Manis expressed the appreciation of the Sudanese leadership and the Sudanese people for the great and continuous efforts of President Deby in supporting the peace process in Sudan.<\/p>\n

He added that President Deby asserted that achieving peace in Sudan is an achievement of peace in Chad. Minister of Cabinet Manis arrived in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, accompanied by the second commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Lit Gen Abdel Rahim Daglo and the national expert, Hasan Bargo.<\/p>\n

In December last year, Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok paid a two-day visit to Chad<\/a>, after which Khartoum and N’Djamena issued a joint statement, calling on the armed movements to give priority to dialogue and national reconciliation.<\/p>\n

In the joint statement the countries stressed the importance of achieving “a real and sustainable peace in Sudan”. They agreed to unite their efforts to facilitate a smooth dialogue between the Sudanese government and the armed movements.<\/p>\n

The two countries also agreed on strengthening the Sudanese-Chadian joint force to secure their border and regulate the movement of persons between the two countries. They will take strict measures with regard to combatting illegal immigration.<\/p>\n
