Representatives of displaced people and refugees in Darfur joined the ongoing peace talks in Juba, capital of South Sudan, on Friday. They submitted their perspectives on peace to the negotiating parties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the peace talks session, the victims presented their views and concerns regarding peace in Darfur and what should be done to put an end to their suffering. They elaborated on their views in the presence of the South Sudanese mediation team, the government delegation, and the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebel alliance delegation.<\/p>\n

Their plea incorporated women rights, dignified and voluntarily return of the displaced and refugees to their places of origin, compensation, and the prosecution of alleged war criminals in Darfur. They also addressed upholding the old administrative system in Darfur and balanced development issues in Darfur.<\/p>\n

In a press statement the South Sudanese mediatior Dhieu Mathok explained that both the government and the SRF delegation presented its response to the victims’ paper. They agreed to include the victims in the implementing mechanisms of the final peace agreement. “The negotiating parties also agreed to form a joint committee from both delegations to discuss with the representatives of the victims about their concerns,” Mathok said.<\/p>\n
