In the wake of a violent incident in Kalma camp for the displaced near Nyala, capital of South Darfur, last week during which two people were killed, the Darfur Bar Association (DBA) has called on native administration leaders “to adopt and produce community solutions that enhance, serve, and strengthen human relations and social cohesion”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 10, three nomads driving to Nyala lost their way in Kalma camp and were attacked. Two of them died<\/a> and the joint UN-AU Mission in Darfur (Unamid) sent reinforcements<\/a> to the camp prevent further escalation.<\/p>\n

The DBA calls on Omda Abdallah Mustafa Abu Nuba, Omda Didan, camp sheikhs and leaders including Sheikh Yagoub Mohamed Abdallah Furi and Sheikh Ishag, to adopt and produce community solutions that include “learning lessons in a way that enhances, serves, and strengthens human relations and social cohesion”.<\/p>\n

In a press statement, the DBA notes that “Darfur has witnessed many bloody and regrettable events since the outbreak of the war until now,” however community solutions “will encourage society to move past the hateful past of the repulsive regime and establish foundations for societal recovery,” the statement concludes.<\/p>\n
