Emergency lawyers announced the release of Maya Hassan Ahmed, a 14-year-old schoolgirl, after she and three other girls were detained by Security Forces during the February 21 Marches of the Millions in Omdurman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a statement, the emergency lawyers explained that the four girls, the oldest of whom is 16 years old, were subjected to ‘enforced disappearance’ for three days in a police station where, as they described, they remained under the terror of the security forces.<\/p>\n

The lawyers indicated that they did not obtain any information about their place of detention and considered the detention an ‘enforced disappearance’ as the children were detained children in other places than the police units designated for their detention, and authorities did not file any criminal charges against them.<\/p>\n

At the time of the incident<\/a>, Lawyer Amira Mohamed told Radio Dabanga that the girls were not registered in any police stations.<\/p>\n

The fact that the ongoing campaign of detentions<\/a> of opponents of the Sudan coup does not seem to spare children sparked outrage.<\/p>\n

The emergency lawyers said that the number of children who were placed detention with adults since the start of the October 25 coup exceeded 200 and that many were subjected to all forms of violence and violations.<\/p>\n
