On Friday, they detained a resident at the camp’s bus station. To date, ten Kalma camp displaced have been detained by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS). The basic school teacher seized in Central Darfur in July is still being held in Khartoum’s Kober prison. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Yagoub Mohamed Abdallah, general coordinator of the Darfur Displaced and Refugees Association reported that camp resident Abdel Nur Hussein Abakar (27) was seized by security forces at the bus station of Majok gate, west of the camp. “Abakar, who has a family, with small children, works at the onions market in Nyala”, the coordinator explained. “He was detained when he wanted to take the bus from the camp to Nyala market.” He called on the security service to “immediately release him”. The coordinator said that Abakar is the tenth Kalma camp resident who was detained by NISS officers since the camp protests started on 4 September. The Kalma residents spontaneously went to the streets of the camp in protest against repeated raids by government forces of the camp. “The siege of the camp by NISS forces agents is ongoing. Any camp resident leaving Kalma to go to their work or the market, is prone to detention.”On Monday, security agents detained a secondary school student from a bus en route from the camp to Nyala, capital of South Darfur. Darfur lawyers The Darfur Bar Association (DBA) strongly condemned the targeting of Kalma displaced by the security forces, and the continuing detention of Darfuri students, displaced, and activists. The DBA also pointed to the prolonged detention of Sheikh Suleiman Ibrahim Hussein, a basic school teacher, detained by security forces in Mukjar locality, Central Darfur, on 15 July.“Hussein was transferred to the federal Kober prison in Khartoum North, where he remains in custody on charges of contacting foreign media. His constitutional rights were violated, as his lawyer and relatives have not been allowed to contact him”, Mohamed Abdallah El Doma, the chairman of the DBA told Radio Dabanga. The Darfuri lawyer called on Sudanese activists and human rights organisations to stand by all the political detained in the country.
