During an attack by the rebels on the garrison on Friday morning, the Captain in command of the garrison was among the dead. Many more were injured and four vehicles were destroyed. Mustafa Tambour, military spokesman for the SLM-AW, told Radio Dabanga that the rebels have taken control of the garrison, as well as three Land Cruisers mounted with Duschka .50-calibre machineguns, large quantities of arms and ammunition, food supplies, and medical equipment.
