A Sheikh in Otash camp, near the capital city of South Darfur, reported to Radio Dabanga that seven malaria patients have died, including two children. Three women died while giving birth. The nine died over a period of one month and a half. \u201cThe three health centres in Otash only receive 150 patients a day, while dozens return, without access to a doctor,\u201d he said on Monday. \u201cThe doctors ask their patients to buy medicines from pharmacies which they cannot afford.\u201d The Sheikh demanded the authorities and humanitarian organisations to speed up the provision of medicines, and an ambulance, that can be used in cases of birth and other emergency cases. Residents of Tullus in South Darfur complained of an increase in malaria and a poor health care in the locality last week.
