Dr Asim Ali Abdelrahman, specialist in plant protection and former director of the ARC-Sudan, explained to the press in Khartoum on Thursday that the tomatoes are sold to the consumers without any monitoring from the authorities concerned. He said that the tomatoes are unfit for human consumption because they contain large quantities of toxins used by farmers to combat various pests. The toxins are retained in the human body, and can cause fatal diseases such as pancreas and prostate cancer sooner or later, he warned.","thumbnail_url":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cropped-dabanga-logo-zondernaam-512x512-1.png","thumbnail_width":512,"thumbnail_height":512}
