Camp residents said they were happy that the rule of the “tyrant” and “despot” which lasted for 42 years had finally ended. Radio Dabanga spoke to a number of refugees in Darfuri camps and most respondents pointed out that the end of the dictatorship in the North African country sends out a strong message to other dictators in the Arab world. “Omar al-Bashir in Sudan and President Ali Abdullah Saleh in Syria will face the same fate. They should hand over their power to the people before being brought down by the flood of the Arab Spring,” one of the refugees told Radio Dabanga. The displaced people expressed a strong desire for freedom and democracy in Libya after Gadhafi and a similar move in Sudan. “There should be good ties between the two countries so that it brings broader benefits to the people of Sudan,” he said. JEM congratulates Libya The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) congratulated the Libyan Transitional Council for Gadhafi's death in a statement on Friday. Jibril Adam Bilal, spokesperson of the JEM, told Radio Dabanga that what happened to Gadhafi confirms the fate of tyrants everywhere in the world. “President Omar al-Bashir will also meet the same end because of what he has done in Darfur, South Kordofan, Blue Nile and to what is now South Sudan,” Bilal said. He called on the people of Sudan to come out on the streets and start demonstrations against Bashir so that he is arrested and brought to trial in the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. Bashir was indicted by the ICC in 2009 for committing war crimes during the conflict in Darfur.
https://www.dabangasudan.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/cropped-dabanga-logo-zondernaam-512x512-1.png
