In particular farmers are targeted. In Karkar village, West Darfur, during an attempted rape, gunmen severely beat a young woman and her mother on Saturday. A displaced man abducted in South Darfur was released on Friday after a ransom was paid. Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Mukjar camp, a listener reported that the area of \u200b\u200bMukjar experienced an increase in attacks on civilians during the past two weeks. \u201cFour farmers of Mukjar camp were seriously injured. The most recent assault was on Muatasim Abakar Haroun. Both his legs were broken.\u201d \u201cAdam Baraka, Saleh Abdel Karim, and a woman were also seriously injured in assaults by government-backed militiamen, while they were tending their farmlands. They all were transferred to hospitals in Mukjar and Zalingei.\u201d \u201cIn the area of Anbara, south of Mukjar, gunmen also stole 30 sheep.\u201d The displaced appealed to the authorities to intervene, put an end to the violence, to bring the offenders to justice, and protect the displaced farmers, so that they can work on their farmlands in peace.\u201d Rape attempt In the village of Karkar in Sirba locality, West Darfur, a mother and her daughter were seriously injured on Saturday evening, in an attack by militiamen. \u201cTwo government-backed militiamen entered their home in Karkar with the aim of raping the daughter (17). When she and her mother resisted, the gunmen severely kicked them and beat them with their rifles. Both women were injured in the head and chest, and had to be taken to the Ardamata hospital for treatment,\u201d a villager of Karkar told Radio Dabanga. Ransom paid Mousa Hamad, the resident of El Salam camp in South Darfur, who was kidnapped by militiamen on 25 July, was released on Friday. Camp sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya told Radio Dabanga that Hamad\u2019s relatives and friends managed to collect the amount of SDG8,000 ($1,400) demanded for his release.
