On Sunday teachers across the locality of Adila in South Darfur decided to go on strike until local authorities paid their salaries for the month of November, sources told Radio Dabanga. One teacher said that all local schools were closed down following a decision by the teachers' union to strike until the situation was resolved. There were 120 appointed teachers serving Adila locality at the start of this school year. The source stated that many had not been paid for up to nine months. As a result some of them over the past year had joined the civilian police. However 18 of them were suspended from the police as it was deemed unlawful to draw two salaries. The local government has been urged by the teachers' union and those who attend the schools, to solve the problem quickly.
<thumbnail_url>https://www.dabangasudan.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/cropped-dabanga-logo-zondernaam-512x512-1.png</thumbnail_url><thumbnail_width>512</thumbnail_width><thumbnail_height>512</thumbnail_height></oembed>
