The displaced people of El Salam camp near Nyala in South Darfur have demanded that the Ministry of Education in South Darfur opens schools for displaced pupils of the site. Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya told Radio Dabanga that 27,084 students have fled the conflict zones. “We need a clear decision from the Ministry of Education and the Governor of the State concerning displaced students.” Sheikh Tabaldiya appealed to them to either open schools inside the camp or enrol the students in other schools in safe areas of the state for free. “The students need to continue their educational process and save their educational future,” he said. He reported that 11 schools for the displaced have collapsed after the people fled camps in the areas of Marla, Hijair, Tabeldiya, Donki Direissa, Umm Gunja and Abugaradil.
