USAID, DAL group to provide milk to eastern Sudanese school children
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) today signed a partnership agreement with the Sudanese DAL company, to provide pasteurised local milk daily to 5,000 malnourished school pupils in eastern Sudan’s Red Sea state.
According to a survey in 2014, Eastern Sudan recorded the highest rate of malnutrition in Sudan.
The US Ambassador to Sudan, Jerry Lanier, commented that the spirit of this partnership, which provides a vital source of nutrition to the children on a daily basis, reflects the continued support of the American people to the people of Sudan.
The USA, which is the largest donor of food assistance to Sudan, on 26 May provided 47,500 tons of sorghum to the UN World Food Programme, to be distributed to the needy in Darfur and eastern Sudan.
