Rebels attack militia and army troops in East Jebel Marra and North Darfur

On Sunday the “Darfur joint resistance forces” repelled an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and attacked a military convoy in East Jebel Marra. On Saturday they attacked militia and army troops in the area of Kulkul, El Fasher locality in North Darfur. The joint rebel forces repelled a RSF attack on East Jebel Marra, and forced them to retreat on Sunday, Mustafa Tambur, the military spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid El Nur (SLM-AW) reported to Radio Dabanga. “The RSF militias had attacked the areas of Nimra, Dolma, and Yara. They had looted the villages and seized livestock. The villagers fled, seeking protection in the mountains and the valleys.” Attack on convoy On Sunday, the “Darfur joint resistance forces” attacked a military convoy in the area between El Aradeib El Ashara and Fanga in East Jebel Marra. “The battle is still continuing,” Tambur told Radio Dabanga on Sunday afternoon. “The convoy in fact consisted of two convoys, one coming from Nyala and the other from El Fasher. They merged in the area of Menawashi, and moved together towards East Jebel Marra.” Kulkul In the area of Kulkul, north of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, 83 Sudanese army and militia troops were killed, and dozens of others injured during an attack by the “Darfur joint resistance forces” at about 5pm on Saturday. “We seized 17 Land Cruisers loaded with various weapons. An arms and ammunitions store was destroyed,” Tambur stated. “After the battle the Sudanese Air Force dropped three bombs on the area.” The “Darfur joint resistance forces” consist of rebel troops from the SLM-AW, the SLM under the leadership of Minni Minawi (SLM-MM), and the Liberation Movement for Justice, led by Taher Hajar (LMJ-TH) and commanded in the field by Ali Karbino.
